EPA developed the Data Publication Tool to give the public access non-Confidential Business Information (CBI) emissions data from large facilities and suppliers in the United States. The Data Publication Tool allows users to search by specific parameters including geographic location, sector, emission ranges, greenhouse gas, and facility/supplier name. The data was collected using the electronic Greenhouse Gas Reporting Tool (e-GGRT), a web-based application EPA developed to support reporting under the 40 CFR 98 Mandatory Reporting of Greenhouse gases (GHG).

The Data Publication tool allows users to view emissions data in several formats including maps, tables, charts and graphs for individual facilities or groups of facilities. Users may search the data set for individual facilities by name or location, filter the data set by according to geopolitical boundaries, industry sectors and sub-sectors, and/or annual facility emission thresholds.
