Q318. Should reporters include calculation inputs when they upload the XML annual reports?

A318. The answer to this question depends on the subparts reported. For some subparts, values used to calculate the GHG emissions are included in the XML annual report. However, for facilities subject to subparts P, X and Y and some facilities subject to subpart C, values used to calculate the emissions are not included in the XML report. Beginning in reporting year 2014, facilities subject to these subparts prepare two XML files: an XML annual report and an IVT Inputs XML file. The IVT Inputs XML file is used to temporarily load calculation inputs to the Inputs Verifier Tool. The Inputs Verifier Tool performs a series of verification checks on the inputs used to calculate the emissions and generates a verification summary, which is saved in e-GGRT. Unlike the XML report, none of the values in the IVT Inputs XML file are saved in e-GGRT. The EPA does not retain or have access to any of the data in the IVT Inputs XML file.

Instructions for preparing the XML reports and IVT Inputs XML files are available at XML Reporting Instructions.
